Gail Griffin's Misinformation Campaign against Rural Groundwater Protection

Representative Gail Griffin (District 19) continues to spread misinformation and outright falsehoods regarding recent legislation to protect rural groundwater. The most recent legislation she is targeting is the Local Groundwater Stewardship Area proposal that was introduced earlier this year but she makes it clear she has opposed all such legislative attempts including the Rural Management Area legislation (2020-2022) and the Groundwater Conservation Area proposal that was crafted by Willcox area farmers and residents back in 2014.  As chairperson of the Natural Resources committee in the state House of Representatives she has blocked all these bills by refusing to even give them a hearing.  Here are links to some of her latest misinformation (Aug 7 Op-Ed and Legislative Briefing).

Specific rebuttals to her many falsehoods have been published in various rural media outlets including the Sierra Vista Herald Review (here).  In addition, the Senate Majority Leader Sonny Borelli (a fellow Republican) has publicly chided Rep. Griffin for misrepresenting the LGSA legislation he sponsored (read about it here).

Water for Arizona Coalition has also published a detailed rebuttal of specific false claims that she makes about the LGSA legislation (read here).

You can view specific information explaining the LGSA legislation here and the most recent version of the actual bill here.
